ESUMS VISIONS

eSums is Centered around Sustainability

“Sustainable development is the development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”

Within the Utility industry it is critical to address challenges of efficiency, longevity, optimum functionality, and being consciously aware of how the land, energy and water is utilised. eSums is consciously aware of its footprint and the demand for sustainable use of the environment is essential to the development of human progress.

Sustainability is at the heartbeat of the way eSums conducts business. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is used as a framework in which it is analysed against sustainability. Sustainable Utilities was developed through paying reference towards the following Sustainable Development Goals:

Ensure access to water and sanitation for all

To reach universal access to drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene by 2030, the current rates of progress would need to increase fourfold. Achieving these targets would save 829,000 people annually, who die from diseases directly attributable to unsafe water, inadequate sanitation, and poor hygiene practices.

Ensure access to water and sanitation for all

Access to electricity in poorer countries has begun to accelerate, energy efficiency continues to improve, and renewable energy is making impressive gains in the electricity sector. Attention is needed to improve access to clean and safe cooking fuels and technologies for 3 billion people, to expand the use of renewable energy beyond the electricity sector, and to increase electrification in sub-Saharan Africa.

Sustainable cities and communities

Rapid urbanization has resulted in 1 billion individuals who suffer from a lack of adequate housing, no running water at home, shared toilets, few or no waste management systems, overcrowded public transport and limited access to formal health-care facilities.

Ensure consumption and production patterns

Sustainable consumption and production is about doing more and better with less. It is also about decoupling economic growth from environmental degradation, increasing resource efficiency, and promoting sustainable lifestyles. Sustainable consumption and production can also contribute substantially to poverty alleviation and the transition towards low-carbon and green economies.

Life Below Water

Saving our ocean must remain a priority. Marine biodiversity is critical to the health of people and our planet. Marine protected areas need to be effectively managed and well-resourced and regulations need to be put in place to reduce overfishing, marine pollution and ocean acidification.

A greater understanding is placed on giving humankind more than just a high-quality services and products offering, eSums is dedicated to make a positive contribution to socio- economic development in a sustainable way through reducing its environmental footprint and supporting biodiversity.
